In 1983 he graduated from Shanxi Agricultural University. He is Director of the Key Laboratory of Pathogenic Microbiology and Immunity, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Director of Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention and Vice President of Beijing Institute of Biological Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He is the academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences.
