He is a researcher of Vegetable Breeding at the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Also, he is Director of Institute of Vegetable. In 1961 he graduated from Shanxi Agricultural College. He has cultivated many new varieties of turnip. He has won State Invention Award, Shanxi Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award, etc. He is Director of China Horticultural Association. He is titled as Outstanding Expert of Shanxi Province, National Outstanding Contribution Award.
