The opening ceremony was held on TaiguCampus
On the morning of September 5,with the SXAU’s115th anniversary only 30 days away, we held the opening ceremony of the Yellow River Farming Civilization Museum on Taigu campus. Hao Jianxin, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice Chairman of Shanxi Provincial Association for Science and Technology, Zhai Tongyi, former Director of Shanxi Agricultural Machinery Management Bureau and Shanxi Agricultural Mechanization Association, Zhou Jinlong, Director of Shanxi Agricultural Mechanization Association, Liao Yuncheng, Secretary of the Party Committee of SXAU and Zhang Qiang, the Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and the President of SXAU attended the ceremony. The opening ceremony was inaugurated by the President, Zhang Qiang.
Remarks by Hao Jianxin, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice Chairman of Shanxi Provincial Association for Science and Technology
Hao Jianxin said that SXAU isindispensable for talent cultivation, scientific and technological innovation and social services of "agriculture, rural areas and farmers" in Shanxi Province. SXAU shoulders the mission of cultivating more talents who know and love agriculture and the task of promoting technological innovation and scientific popularization. He hopes SXAU and Shanxi Provincial Association for Science and Technology will jointly carry out the President Xi’s speeches of technology innovation, leverage advantages and integrate resources of merging, promote scientific popularization so as to play bigger role in improving the public science quality; we should take this opening as an opportunity to cultivate the spirit of university, inherit the farming civilization of the Yellow River, promote the growth of students, school and education development, and make the museum an crucial stage for scientific popularization and a spiritual home for all.
Remarks by Zhai Tongyi, former Director of Shanxi Agricultural Machinery Management Bureau and Shanxi Agricultural Mechanization Association
As the birthplace of farming civilization, Shanxi devoted herself to building farming civilization, said Zhai Tongyi. Shanxi Agricultural Mechanization Association has been collecting ancient agricultural machinery and tools for years. Today, those collections can be presented in the museum, showing the traditional agricultural machinery and tools of thousand-year civilization and the history of the Yellow River farming civilization. I'm so glad to see these been exhibited.
Remarks by Liao Yuncheng, Secretary of the Party Committee of SXAU
On behalf of SXAU, Liao Yuncheng extended heartfelt thanks to the individuals and units who contributes a lot to the construction, especially to the donation of Shanxi Agricultural Mechanization Association and strong support fromour alumni. He said that the inauguration of the Museum is an actual deed of carrying out President Xi’s speeches on promoting the Yellow River civilization. We should build the museum through collecting, preserving and displaying the relics of our province's traditional farming civilization, advance traditional farming civilization, shoulder the lofty mission of inheriting history and consolidating culture confidence. He hoped that the Museum would serve as a new platform for pubilcing the farming civilization of the Yellow River, a new base for receiving practical agricultural education, and a new name card for foreign exchanges.

Zhang Qiang said that the Yellow River Farming Civilization Museum, a landmark in campus construction, filled in gap of lacking museum on campus. He hopes the faculty and students enjoy culture while actively participate in discovering, protecting, inheriting and promoting the Yellow River Farming Civilization, thus the museum will become an important carrier for SXAU to transmit culture of the Yellow River Farming Civilization, improve the student practical education and strengthen cultural construction.
Visiting Museum
After the opening ceremony, the participants visited the Museum together. The museum is located on the first floor of the Qinxue Building on TaiguCampus. Academician Li Zhensheng, the winner of State Preeminent Science and Technology Award, inscribed the museum’s name. Academician Zhong Kang, the President of Botanical Society of China, inscribed words ‘boundless mountains and rivers nurtures endless culture ofChina’, the museum’s theme. The museum was completed in September 2022 and divided into six exhibition halls, namely, “Prefatory Hall”, “Original China”, “Early Civilization”, “Profound Background”, “New life of the Yellow River” and “Ending Hall”. The museum, based on academic advantages and collections resources of SXAU, tells stories with exhibits and illustrates culture with agricultural tools, unfolding the Yellow River Farming Civilization represented by Shanxi Province in 1800 sq. m. space.
